Post: Service Mode PS2??

So I tried it on mine using God of War II and it didn't. But could this mean something? Like we could actually play PS2 games through service mode? Maybe they removed this feature from later firmwares or hardware? I tried it on my 120gb slim. I'm surprised this hasn't been talked about and would be awesome to finally play PS2 games on PS3s besides launch ones. Someone else want to give it a try? Thanks
Update:
It does seem to start up in service mode, just not certain titles (?) whereas regular OS says disc is not supported.

the old 40gb ps3's were compatible with some ps2 games
service mode wouldn't change it
