Um I'm pretty sure all retail PS3's have 3.42 up to 3.50 firmware. So if you get a 3.50, just downgrade. Be careful though, downgrading a PS3 will lose it's Bluray playback. Assuming since it's a slim, there is no way to recover the function at the moment.

K your Going to need a USb-
On your Usb Put 3.41 PUP update
And Install it To your ps3.

No problem, But hey just make sure your usb device is formated to FAT32

If your getting it for christmas it might already have 3.50 or 3.55 installed, as it gets the software installed at the factory.
