uh describe what you mean by bricked.
Basically my brick was caused when i accidently powered the machine off while it was downgrading. When i turned the ps3 on it used to turn off after approximately 5-15 seconds. (Its not like the yellow light of death or anything)
To fix the problem i followed this method but with great trouble lol.
This is what i did:
1. I got my downgrade device which had the downgrade files installed onto it.
2. I got my FAT32 formated usb that had the downgrade files on the root of it. (Such as the lvl 2 diag self file(1) and modified pup file).
3. I put my downgrade device into the left usb port of the ps3 (the one on the left and not the one near the icons that flash).
4. I used the powercut and then power + eject method to run the downgrade device as soon as it started working and doing its job i turned the backswitch off however, whilst doing this i also pressed eject. In a nutshell you must press eject + the back switch/power buttons together when the downgrade device has booted.
5. I then removed my downgrade device.
5. Then i put the usb that had the downgrade files (modified pup & lv2 diag self file) Into the right hand side usb port. (the one near icons that blink).
6. I then turned the ps3 on normaly using the power button.
7. Then i was on a blank screen and for a few minutes (maybe 5) and it shutdown by itself. (This is the bit where you know its working because if it shuts of after about 10 seconds it means you did step 4 wrong.
8. After it was shut down i removed the usb that had downgrade files on it. I then turned it on normaly again and it booted into factory service mode again. From here i also realised that it had downgraded by looking at system information.(Note: You may need to reconnect the controler using the left usb port if it isnt connecting with the ps3)
9. I carried on with the final step of downgrading by puting it back to retail mode by placing the 2nd lvl 2 diag self file (2) into the blank FAT 32 usb and placing it into the right hand usb port again and turning the ps3 on normaly again.
10. After doing this the ps3 turned off again after about 10 seconds. I then removed the usb and finally i then powered it on normaly again and it was back in retail mode.
I hope this helps you as i stated what i did by following the method posted by 'icankill'.
Thanks icankill because without you i would have lobbed my ps3 in the bin b4 i read what you posted! :bro:
