If you have a signed .pkg you don't need to jailbreak. If the .pkg is for the 3.55 firmware you can just install the firmware onto the 3.55 and it will work(cuz it's signed)

you will have to use pen drive, to copy and paste .pkg files, because the keys will match, the ps3 wont reject it.

Well you dont install PKG's by themselves, you need a modded firmware to use it. So what someone would do is get a custom firmware with all the apps we want, sign it, then we could download it and make our Ps3's run a custom firmware. We would just update the Ps3 with the modded firmware and since the Modded firmware would be signed, the Ps3 would accept it.

So what if there is a signed ftp server? that will have to be on a cfw, then downloaded

The Ftp server would be part of the custom firmware, if the custom firmware is signed, everything in it is signed, including the ftp server. Then yes, we would just download it, put it on a pendrive, then on our Ps3 we would just go to the update system menu in the settings. We would update via usb, then once the update is complete and our Ps3 starts, there would be a whole nother folder called homebrew. Homebrew is where the FTP server would be. Smile
