To do so...
1. Turn of ps3
2. Hold power button till ps3 turns on and then off again
3. Hold power button again untill it beeps 2 times consecutively (beep......beep....... beep beep) I know it sounds funny but this is going to be as user friendly as i can make it.
4. It will ask you to connect controller with usb
5. Go to the last option "System Update"
6. Follow on screen instuctions (it just tells you to press select and start at the same time)
7. You win!


Alright im going to start off by saying that this is NOT a dumb ass repost of the CFW but to help those who are (like me) in need of some assistance. So heres the problem I and many others are seeing. Currently on 3.55 offical firmware, have flashdrive with
PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.pup
It can't be found tho. Does anyone know why this is happening?

same here i've used my psp,phone thumbdrive and it says its not there.

You're not as dumb as I think you are - but you might haven't renamed it to PS3UPDAT.pup?
Also try, spoon feeding penguins in Alaska. That could be another solution.

what kind of ps3 u got

It's not a huge deal, once its on there im just going to say "ohhh, ahhh" and thats it beacuse there are no pkgs to try. Im just curious to whats going wrong.

I have a fat 80gig ps3.

Sowhat you're saying is:
A. You're on firmware 3.55
B. You downloaded the CFW
C. You copied to Usb-PS3-UPDATE
D. You renamed it to PS3UPDAT.pup
E. You inserted the USB stick into your PS3
F. You turned your PS3 on and went to System Update
G. You went to install from usb device
H. It installed
I. It turned on and you didn't have Install packages under the games menu


Or that you have a useless problem that isn't intresting at all?

Don't know if this will help but i renamed mine is uppercase
PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

it wont even find it on the usb
