Hey man, alright heres the deal... the CFW(custom firmwre) is in fact of no use but to say it has been created and works. Homebrew is applications that are designed by "at home" developers but made possible to run on ps3. But this is not easy because PlayStation obviously doesnt want people to be able to do this because of game piracy so they sign all of their applications with a custom key... kind of like a custom signature. Until now the hacking community has not been able to obtain these keys thats why we initally had to jailbreak. Once jailbreak was patched the hacking community had to obtain these keys, and with the hard work of the fail0verflow team this has finally been accomplished.

Summary:

CFW is at the moment useless except to say you have it, there is no correctly signed homebrew apps available at all! Meaning no backup manager, FTP server as you have asked. Just be patient and you will get what you want...

Probably not this week, there are no correctly signed apps yet and the main guys working on the signing are totally against piracy (as am i) so they will not be signing backup manager or ftp server. they mainly just want to run linux on ther ps3 consols. Once they get there apps signed right then the more corrupt hacking community will be able to sign their apps. So i would plan for next week or week after...

So no challenge lobbys kiddos... yet!

Cainfool said it in his thread and there are two guys from NGU that are currently working on signing a FTP server just hope they get it working

Right but they wont know how to sign it untill the initial apps are released and signed correctly.
