Post: Why does everybody think that a system update...

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Would make it so the PS3 could never be hacked again? Like, it can never be jailbroken? The jailbreak is creating a folder that just installs .pkg files (Basically acting like a function of the OS outside of it's natural runtime environment) that are signed with Son'y OFFICIAL SECURITY ENCRYPTION KEYS that were obtained from the PS3.

That means every PS3 that is available today is able to be jailbroken, no matter what firmware (And would be extremely hard to patch, as you'd have to re-encrypt the whole hypervisor, ect). Almost every game would need an update (They use a code to gain access to be able to run under Sony's encryption code, and PSN stuff would all need to be resigned.

So, why is everyone thinking that an update will take away hacked PS3's? Do you think Sony can actually fix it? Thoughts?

What I heard is that even if they did resign it all we can still find the new key. So as far as I know looks unpatchable.

They could never block a users account. the CFW makes Sony's system think it is the original 3.55 FW. but Sony could release a new FW/Server patch and when u download it, it tells Sony what system has go a different log than a normal FW. Just than idea... but as i said. 'This is Sony'
