*edit* Ok i am happy to say someone has already worked out how to do this!!!! Link to the thread below:

Ok people, bare with me while i explain.
I'm looking to put together a team of people who want to finally be able to game on the PS3 using a keyboard & mouse. The end aim here is that we enable it so in some way or another, people are able to use ANY USB (maybe blu-tooth as well), keyboard & mouse, on ANY game for the PS3. An example would be to be able to use your mouse & keyboard to play COD on the PS3 (giving you a huge advantage over players using a controller), cheap maybe.... but a cool idea none the less (hence the name of the project).
Now i am brand new to the PS3 hack scene & have no experience what-so-ever in programming anything for the PS3. I can read / understand code & can code in Python but that's about it for my current abilities. I am by no means putting myself forward as leading the project, or even taking a forward role, i am merely trying to stimulate some interest in achieving this goal.
I have no idea if this is even possible.... it may be incredibly easy or it may take a lot of work but this is why i am asking you guys to volunteer your skills so we can at least try and achieve this.
Now, clearly it will be a lot more complicated to actually do this, but my current plan of attack towards this would be to program the PS3 to accept Keyboard & Mouse as if it's a normal controller attached by USB (Or blu-tooth). That way we can map certain keys to what the PS3 thinks as X or O etc (we could even have an app that allows players to customise controls personally). We know the PS3 has a driver for keyboards as you can already use one (just not in game e.g. typing messages). Getting a mouse to work with the PS3 will be a little more complicated but im sure we would be able to work it out. There might also be an issue with sensitivity, e.g. 10 sensitivity on COD may be way too slow for using a mouse with reactions like you can on PC, and we would need to find a way to make it right.
Now i need some guys (or gals) who preferably have experience with programming for the PS3, and if not, then almost certainly experience in programming itself. Like i said before, i have yet to even look at any code from the PS3, so without anyone with experience on the team it will take a group of people with no experience longer to work out their way around the PS3 & how to use the tools etc.
If you know of anyone currently working on a project like this please say so I can try and contact them as i would really like to be a part of achieving this goal.
One potential issue is whether we are able to do this purely through a .pkg file (meaning it is easy for everyone to download and use) or if the only way of achieving this is by releasing firmware with mouse and keyboard compatibility (i really hope not). Don't laugh at what i just said all you knowledgeable programmers... like i said i'm new to the PS3 & in fact new to doing anything like this so i really don't currently know the boundaries & limitations here.
Please don't be afraid to volunteer, even if you think you are not skilled enough, the more people that volunteer the more likely we are to succeed in this project as you never know you may be better than you think. I haven't decided on what the limit of people should be directly helping with this project, i'm just hoping too many people volunteer so that I can decide on the best people.
I'm thinking skype / msn for communication & maybe using a project website to manage things (think google has one?)
Want to apply to join the team? (we need a team name... hmmmm?), PM me about your experience with programming / just general info about why you wanna help so i can see you are clearly motivated. Remember, even if you have never programmed for the PS3 before, as a group i'm sure we can work out how to do this. Know anyone who is skilled & might be interested? Tell them to read this thread.
Can't think of anything i have left out... will edit & add anything i've missed.
Please leave comments with your thoughts on the project and any criticism's please be constructive - i'm just trying to make gaming even greater for PS3 custom firmware owners.
