You can already do that. you don't even need CFW. Just go to a site where you can download themes and install them via Theme Settings.

Did you read the OP? He is asking about custom plugins/removing of icons. Current themes cannot do that to my knowledge.

A whole new CFW would have to be made though, as the ones out right now don't even have plug-in support. Geohot's just added the ability to install packages (Which was already something in the PS3, but needed an Encryption key to run at any time).

I think op means serious custom 3d innovative themes like the ones that came with hacked psps back in the day lol [Psp CXMB ]<--- Google It

CXMB was homebrew made for the psp allowing the user to completely edit the systems shell(s) to allow for full customization and to revamp the traditional xmb
Hopefully CXMB can be ported some how to work for the ps3 =D

There isn't a need for a cfw update -___- plug-ins are not for ps3 omgg the only thing needed is a homebrew package compiled for ps3 that imitates the functions of CXMB for ps3

Yeah they had this on PSP and I would say they'll be on ps3 soon enough just have to wait
