To install without getting a bricked PS3, you have to go into recovery mode and go to OFW 3.55.

If what the Devs say is true, Sony can't patch this with software, then no matter what they release it wont matter, but what Sony MAY do is implament a new line of checking games server side, or something..

It wouldn't matter because the programs are signed, so if you restore back to OFW and then to 3.6, you can still use the apps because they are signed. The only feature you would lose is the 'install packages' feature.
