I would recommend for everyone to go back to the old firmware by following this short tutorial:

1. Download this: You must login or register to view this content.

2. Put it the update on your PS3 in a folder like this:

PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

3. Insert the USB into your PS3.

4. Starting with your PS3 off hold down the power button until the PS3 turns on then back off, release the power button.

5. With your PS3 off again, hold down the power button until the PS3 beeps once followed by two consecutive beeps.

6. Scroll down to UPDATE SYSTEM

7. Press 'START' and 'SELECT' at the same time

8. Follow the on screen instructions and your PS3 should be back on the old firmware after it is done installing.

That's all.

NOTE:
1. ALL SIGNED HOMEBREW APPS YOU HAD ON YOUR CFW STILL WORK 100% EVEN ON THE OLD FIRMWARE!
2. YOUR CURRENT MODDED PATCHES WILL REMAIN ON YOUR PS3 EVEN AFTER YOU GO BACK TO OLD FIRMWARE!

I think the CFW was only used to be able to install .pkgs
So once on OFW you should still be able to install .pkgs using file manager. Since the files are already signed.

No do NOT listen. There is no need to go back, Geohot is winning this case. If he wins he could make it LEGAL to jailbreak the ps3. He did it with apple.

People do it just to be safe. Sony will still ban because its against PSN Terms and Conditions and User Agreement.
