Or can I just use other stuff, etc?

Basically i would do a bit of research on it first.. to know what your doing + theres lots and lots of threads about this.

Try recovery mode then try again.

You need to be more specific its not working is not really a good description of the problem. As well i have a 60G fat PS3 and it worked fine for me

I have tried to reinstall OFW from flash drive then start from scratch. Re-download GeoHotz JB FW, create the necessary folders on the flash drive and put the flash drive in and go to update form storage device....goes through install saying it completed. Then the system shuts down and I only get 3 system beeps and nothing has been installed.
