Try reinstalling the OFW then install Geohots CFW

Hmm i think i had this problem cant remember how i fixed it..
P.S i got the same console so it will work :L

i also have 60 gig working cfw no probs but to update i did have to put ps3 into recovery mode
step 1 turn fully at back then turn on
step 2 hold finger on power button
step 3 ps3 will beep then beep again and turn off
step 4 hold power button down again this time it beep once then twice let go power button
then select update system with your usb plugged in it will find update and should be ok

1. Turn PS3 off by Controller
2. Turn back on by finger and keep hold till turns back off
3. turn it back on you will here 1 bleep on its own and then two bleeps together then let go you should get an option menu with 6 options. then go to System update the 6th option & wait for it to check your console and then it will upload the firmware.
