How did i find this?
Well ive been lookin into to making customized avatars on my ps3 flash and i found out how the avatar system works and while its not got me any closer to customizing it i thought id share

NexIll try replacing sonys addy for my own avatar addy dont try that till i get a chance to it could go bad idunno yet LOL but this following guide will work peachy! i threw this together quick for everyone hope you all have fun with it!

About Avatars:
Ok this is actually directed from PSN via X= your user id folder number mine is 00000001 for example:

Locate and extract this file via FTP the following file.. open it in WORDPAD

hdd0\home\0000000X\np_cache

Inside you see an addy for example like this:

    https://static-resource.np.community.playstation.net/avatar/SCEI/I0001.png

That addy can be replaced with any avatar found http sniffing the network i will provide you with where they start you can use your web browser to look through the by simply adding a digit so for example:

After you have edited your file simply put it back into the directory from whence it came and enjoy your new avatar photo

This is a way to get avatars that cost money, for free(e.g. ps plus avatars and stuff), I've tried exploiting it to get custom avatars and everyone can see but somewhere in dev flash it only accepts that URL(static-resource sony etc etc), and if you **** around with dev flash and don't know what you're doing you'll stuff up your PS3.

Changing that URL basically changes what avatar will come up everytime you log on, so as I said if you found the URL for ones you hadn't bought and costed money you could have it, but as I said it will only accept that sony URL so yeah.

sure enough bro your right i tried replacing it using a pic of the same size res and format hosted it on imgshack and then replaced the addy and yet it does nothing it stores my last OFFICIAL psn avatar i used and it just loads it up as if it were backed up data somehow but your right.

SIDE NOTE IN REGARD TO YOUR VALID POINT FLASH TOYING CAN BRICK

Ive actually been in a dev that was just for this sorta thing on wii called the wii theme team ive also deved many psp themes and xmb edits also i did dump the entire flash 0 to my hdd for backup just in case LOL is there anyone whos found a way to run a homebrew app that can boot FTP server from sonys recovery mode (or any pkg) this would be useful for those who will risk bricks in the name of brew? i think this would be gr8 thing to work on if not.

Psp has Hold R untill Recovery menu appears...

Wii has Priiloader its capable of booting any brew file and loads b4 the system menu does

We need a way to host a custom avatar and make it fetch that avatar from another server and we havent figured this out yet apparently others have gotten farther along than i have but i found this tonight fkn around and thought id share like i did when i dumped PS HOME from the flash and posted this way other brave souls can take a crack at this THIS IS NOT A GUIDE FOR NOOBS if you fk with the wrong sht in flash 0 YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PS3 this is for HACKERS ONLY
