disclaimer: I have not bricked my PS3 (nor would I try this CFW after all the bad reports) and I did not write the following...this is copied from another site and I will post the source at the bottom. If you have already bricked your PS3 maybe this will work. Again, I have not tried this, but perhaps it will help someone:

Bricking the PS3 is mostly caused for a bad dev_flash when flashing it using Mount Alejandro (or another homebrew application which permanently flashes, unlike JaiCraB USB FiRM Loader) or a bad .PUP, this is a brief tutorial I (copied) for you to fix this – Thanks to MonkeyBoy

1.First of all, download this recovery files. You must login or register to view this content..
2.Unzip the .zip file and it will show up two folders (Lv2Diag File 1 & Lv2Diag File 2)
3.Put your PS3 on Recovery Mode (it its bricked it will not show you the Recovery Screen, it will just turn off once you click power+eject)
4.Then format a USB and put the following files on the root: Lv2Diag.self (From the File 1 folder) and PS3UPDAT.PUP (Your current firmware)
5.Put the USB on the right USB port of the PS3 (The one closer to the Disc Reader) and turn it on
6.The screen will be black, just wait 10 minutes approximately and the PS3 will turn off it self (If the PS3 doesn’t turn off after 10 minutes, turn it off manually)
7.Turn the PS3 on and you’ll see the Recovery Mode screen, after this erase everything from your USB and put the Lv2Diag.self (From the File 2 folder) on the USB root
8.Turn off the PS3 and put the USB on the right USB port of the PS3 (The one closer to the Disc Reader)
9.Turn your PS3 on and then it will turn off, turn it on again and your PS3 will be unbricked.

Maggbot timeout!
I had no issues. He told people about the bricking. There's also a chart that followed that stated which of the model's could brick. Mine wasn't in that list so installed it and low and behold no issues. No freezing, no errors, and fully working. Those who tried it on the older models should have looked at chart. If I had a 256 NAND unit I would never have attempted it because people were warned. Sucks for you guys that have a door stopper now. Sorry to hear that. But for all the slim models I have not heard of any bricks yet. Lesson to all those Phat owners. Stay away from this shit! Smile

Bummer man. Sorry to hear about your PS3. Pretty sure they will find ways of unbricking them tho. Just hang in there
