Hi I am Going to make a tutorial about how install game backups to your hdd without needing backup manager etc so you should be able to play it right of your xmb.

Tools needed

Comgenie's Awesome File Manager:You must login or register to view this content.
FTP BlackBox:You must login or register to view this content.

File Zilla:You must login or register to view this content.
External Hdd (Recommmended) anything with atleast 20 gb's(it could be a video ipod, make sure its on a FAT32 Format)
FlashDrive (1g or more)

Im suggesting you have all of the above
Ok lets just say we have the pkg.file for the game we are going to install for example Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2(Blus30495).(pkg.file are needed for the game to boot from the xmb)

1.We will start off by putting our pkg.file onto our flashdive and after the transfer is complete connect it to the ps3.

2.Once connected using Geohotz CFW 3.55 go to install package files and click on the naruto pkg. we have on our flashdrive.

3.After it install you should see the icon on the gamefolder of the game we just install but the game cant be played yet because it missing its files most likely is the USRDIR folder files.(The reason why u cant put the whole game into a pkg.file its becasue most time it will give you error on either finalizing the pkg.file or when trying to install via Install package Files it will also take a long time to transfer a 8gb file dats could take hours!).

4.Now we need to get the rest of the files back into the USRDIR Folder but there are 2 ways of doing this. A or B if A method didnt work try B
A. from your ps3 go in to FTP BlackBox and from your computer click on filezilla, login to your ps3 by entering
Host:enter the ipadress given by blackbox
Username:FTPD12345
Password:*leave it blank*
Port:21
Now quickconnect and go to dev_hdd0/game/Blus30495 (which is naruto)/USRDIR ok now before we send anything in here you have rename the eboot.bin on the files ur going to send into file zilla your going to rename the eboot file locate inside the USRDIR rename like this EBOOT.BIN.ORG now were ready to send everything so just drag the folder USRDIR to the USRDIR folder in the hdd its should take a while so let it complete.*IF U SEE ANY FAILED TRANSFER THAT MEANS IT DIDNT WORK! right click and remove and stop everything*

B.This is the other option of sending the missing files from the PC USRDIR to the hdd0 USRDIR.*REMEMBER TO RENAME THE EBOOT.BIN TO EBOOT.BIN.ORG*. We will open Comgenie's Awesome file manager
now on the computer we will drag the USRDIR folder to the ROOT of the External hdd (it's easier to find). Once finished connect the external hdd to ps3 and on Comgenie's Awesome File Manager ON THE LEFT SIDE OPEN the dev_hdd0/game/Blus30495/USRDIR ON THE RIGHT SIDE go into dev_usb000 you should see your other USRDIR folder now go inside the USRDIR folder and from the right side everything inside that folder copy it to the left side by pressing O.*Make sure u copied everything to the left ONLY INSIDE THE USRDIR FOLDER.

5.Once done installing the USRDIR fully u can play the game. But before you play make sure your signed off after you finish playing are want to sign back on delete your log files by first turning off your connection at internet settings, then go into comgenie's Awesome File Manager they are 3 log file u have to delete but to delete them u have to press the select button Red= Delete Blue=copy/write
1.dev_hdd0/vsh/pushlist(delete patch.dat, and game.dat)

2.dev_hdd0/home/00000xx (which ever your user number is) look for etc and delete boot_history.dat
3.dev_hdd0/tmp/game(delete ps3logo.dat).
Then just quit the game you could turn your internet back on and sign on normally and you'll be fine Smile ENJOY THIS THREAD IT TOOK ME ALL NIGHT MAKING IT
Im sorry i couldnt get any of the full game file i will surely make a next thread with full game hotkeyed and patch aswell Smile

A was a complete waste of time installing this. I get a black screen with every game. I expected it to work since it did install without a brick.

Heres what I did:

I put the ORIGINAL Disc in my PS3
Opened multiMAN & copied the game from CD to PS3 HDD (takes ages)
Put in any game Disc into my PS3
Highlighed the copied game on HDD with multiMAN
Press X to load
It ased of I want to direct launch & I choose no
Takes me back to the main title screen
I see the name of the copied game
I click on it
Black screen

What am I doing wrong?

Do you know where to post it then? Link? This software encourages piracy and you care where I post? If you don't have a solution, then don't post. It's hard enough getting a reply that I'm not a premium user

If you post again, offer a solution

At least I can fight
Whenever I install a pkg it gives me an error and it shows Corrupted Data in the game menu in the xmb
01-18-2011, 07:10 PM #27
i dont understand. i have tried this with a couple different games and none of them work :jim: . assassins creed brotherhood says "error xxxxxxxx game failed to launch" or something like that. and black ops says "game data is corrupted, you must delete the game data to play this game" so i dont know what to do :???: . all the tutorials on youtube or NGU always add or subtract steps from the process. so if someone could please post a simple vid, or a tutorial for noobs, it would be much appreciated. btw im on the US ps3 3.55 geohot cfw, and all my games are naturally BLUS :carling: .

you're not doing anything wrong, its just that geohot did not make his firmware compatible to run games off backup managers...or so he thought. Thats why this tut was made, so you can play your backed up games on his firmware.
