Easy/Most basic Tut:

1. Download Geohot's custom firmware onto a usb stick or removable device.

2. Plug your removable device into your ps3 and turn it on.

3. Go to Settings-System Update-Update via Storage Media-3.55JB.

3. Select it and download.

4. This will cause your ps3 to go black and beep 7-8 times (Dont get intimidated by the black screen or beepin). This will take about 30 seconds.

5. Your ps3 will turn off. Turn it on by holding the psn button on your controller.

6. You should now have the custom 3.55 JB Firmware and under game you will have Install Package Files. If this is correct then you have done it correctly. Enjoy your Jailbroken ps3.
