I've also heard that is used for other stuff but I can't find what is it used for exactly. I've heard JailBreak can do some pretty neat stuff but I heard also that you most likely won't be able to play online ever again because once the JailBreak is installed there's no way to remove it?

Is there any other way to use File Manager without jailbreaking? I want to put some mods for The Elder Scrolls Oblivion GOTY edition but I can't do it with simply a USB it seems

You are wrong you can do it with a usb thanks to geohot ,well if you updated to the new firmware today then you wont be able to.
If you haven't done it yet then you will need to download geohot's custom firmware + awesome filemanger or black b0x . If you look on ps3 exploits and hacks then you should be able to find a guide .


You are also wrong about not being able to undo the jailbreak the jailbreak was a stick which you would put into your ps3 and then you would be able to run unsigned code on your ps3 once you were to remove your stick from the ps3 and restart it you would not be able to run the unsigned code on your ps3 and therefore you would no longer be in jailbreak mode .

You can not possibly do it without jailbreaking, but you can jailbreak by just using a USB stick, just download the latest CFW.
