Installing Wutangrza and a Working Backup Manager Tutorial

Okay, so I have seen many questions regarding how to install Wutangrza CFW and how to use backup managers on it so I have decided to make this tutorial.

Okay so you want to install Wutangrza CFW? Then just follow the simple steps below! Smile

Installing a CFW For The First Time

For this step I'm assuming that you don't have any CFW installed on your PS3 at this time. If you do please scroll down where I explain how to install over a previous CFW.

1. Download Wutangrza CFW from here: You must login or register to view this content.

2. Once downloaded place the PS3UPDAT.PUP on your usb in this order: Create a folder in the root called "PS3" (No Quotes) Then inside that folder create another folder called "UPDATE", then go into that folder and place your PS3UPDAT.PUP.

3. Remove your usb and plug it into your PS3. You will now need to boot your PS3 into recovery mode. To do so hold down the powerbutton on your ps3, it will beep once when it turns on, keep holding your finger on the button until you here two more beeps, on the second beep remove your finger and your ps3 will turn off. Now once again hold your finger on the power, you'll here one beep when it turns on keep holding your finger down, you'll here a second beep again keep holding your finger down and then you'll here two beeps right after each other, you may now remove your finger and when you do remove your finger your ps3 will now be in recovery mode, then just scroll down to Update PS3 and follow the on screen instructions.

4. Now that your PS3 has Wutangrza CFW installed we now want to install GeoHot's CFW over it so that we can install packages such as MultiMAN Backup Manager. Download GeoHot's CFW from here: You must login or register to view this content.

5. Once downloaded put it in the same place you put the last PS3UPDAT.PUP except delete the last once.

6. Now just put the usb back in your ps3 and on your ps3 go to System Update>Update Via Storage Media. It should find the update and just proceed with the onscreen instructions.

7. Congratz you now have a fully working CFW PS3! Please scroll down until you see how to install a Backup Manager! Smile

Installing Wutangrza Over Previous CFW

1. Download Official 3.55 FW from here: You must login or register to view this content.

2. Download Wutangrza CFW from here: You must login or register to view this content.

3. I assume since you have already installed a CFW on your ps3 before you know where to place the PS3UPDAT.PUP file on your usb. (If not please read tutorial above.)

4. Put your usb into your PS3 and boot it up in Recovery Mode, to do this you must: Hold down the powerbutton on your ps3, it will beep once when it turns on, keep holding your finger on the button until you here two more beeps, on the second beep remove your finger and your ps3 will turn off.

5. Now follow all the steps that are mentioned in the tutorial above starting at step number 4 (You must boot into recovery again to install Wutangrza CFW.)

Installing Working multiMAN Backup Manager

Okay so you have Wutangrza CFW installed with GeoHot's on top of it, now it's time to get a backup manager working!

Step:
1. Download multiMAN Backup Manager from here: You must login or register to view this content.

2. Download lv2 patch here: You must login or register to view this content.

3. Put both .pkg files in the main root of your usb.

4. Plug your usb into your ps3 and under "Game" go down to the folder that says "Install Packages" and click to open it.

5. Click to install both .pkg files that are on your usb.

6. Now everytime you boot up your ps3 you have to run lv2 Patcher which will also be under game since you just installed it. Once you run it and it says complete you may then run your backup manager and run games you have backed up. I'm not going to go into detail on how to use MultiMAN as it is pretty self explanitory. UPDATE: To get the backups to work, click launch on the game in MultiMAN, when it asks if you want to boot directly or whatever the message is click NO and it will take you back to the XMB, make sure you have a disk in your drive and that disk will now be named whatever game you just tried to launch, you may now launch the backup by clicking to play that disc.

7. Don't worry it won't be long before this patch is integrated into backup managers so you don't have to patch everytime you boot your ps3 up.

Thanks!

The lv2 patch link is dead; this is for real this time:

Unfortunately, the link you have clicked is not available.
Reasons for this may include:
- Invalid link
- The file has been deleted because it was violating our Terms of service.

PLEASE RE-POST A NEW LINK, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED Smile

SOMEONE ELSE PLEASE TRY SO I DON'T LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT AGAIN

Hey thanks for letting me know, I would suggest reading Juddy's thread as he offers a firmware that doesn't require the LV2 patch, just go back to Exploits and Hacks section and it should be on the first page. Winky Winky
