i got intrested in getting an external hard drive for backing up my ps3 games. The only thing is, how do you guys overide the fat32 less than 4gb rule? It does have to be in fat32 right? Is there anything else i should know about? I dont want to waste 100 bucks on a 1-2 tb external hardrive and not be able to use it. thanks and +rep to all good solid anwsers.

its a 3.0/2.0. are you positive no 3.0/2.0 works. and i see what you guys are saying about the file sizes.

Didn't really read the whole thread, couldn't understand most of it. But if your wanting a way to format a hard drive to FAT32, theres a program to do it. Download SwissKnife and that will format any harddrive to FAT32. Also it has a 2TB limit

so how do we get it from the ps3 to the external hdd mate?

well im using the waninkoko firmware
so i got rogera manager what ever its called lol on it

and i just go to it and put the disc in and then just hit copy which is circle for me and it ask do you wanna copy to the internal hdd
select no then it ask you do you wanna copy to usb0001
or what ever usb number you have it in
im sure multi msn id the same i havent tried with it i think rogera works better

i am so possitive that the drive you just linked me to will not work
thats the one i got from best buy first it did not work tryed over 4 hours of it and didnt
at all i read forums after forums after forums and there was alot of problems with 3.0 not reading on slims now some people say it works on fats but idk i have a slim and i would rather stick with this iomega cheaper and same size

im going the other way. computer to ps3. NOT PIRACY I PAID FOR EM. just lost the disks.

well if you go computer to ps3 which i did with nba jam

you just format the external to fat32
then open the drive on your computer create a folder called GAMES
OR GAMEZ depends which back up manager you use and then just
drag and drop the game in there and make sure GAMES OR GAMEZ IS in caps
which if you have ever owened a psp you will know the sony formats for sd cards and external hard drives like how main folders need to be in caps

right now im trying to use my last ounce of space left on my ps3 to put need for speed hot pursuit on there and it is pissing me off. I transfered it to /GAMEZ. Im still using geohotz because i found a confirmed working package for nfs. I did EVERYTHING and its still not working. Sorry i know that was off topic but i have to vent.
