im on 3.55 and i ( jail broken ?) well not jailbroken did erm geohots custom firmware to host lobbys etc. so yeah if i update to 3.56 will i be still able to or not?

Yes you will. But before updating, download the official 3.55 firmware You must login or register to view this content.. Then do the same steps you did with Geohot's custom firmware and update to official one. Then you are safe to update to 3.56, but your programs like BlackB0x won't work, so you can't patches. So i'd suggest you change to the patch you like the most and then update. Hope i helped!
