Climbing up the ladder
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I was reading a thread yesterday on the possibility of recording gameplay w/o a capture card. people said that the ps3 wouldnt be able to handle it. But if you own Just Cause 2 you would know that it has a feature enabling you to record gameplay directly to the hdd, unlike black-ops where it is stored on their server. anyone got any thoughts on this??

well thats because the ps3 already allocates enough ram for the entire just cause 2 game to work. since the recorder is programmed into JC2 then the ps3 has enough memory to do it. otherwise the ps3 has shit for ram and cant handle more than one thing being run at once..

Like said above the recorder is within the game which the PS3 is powerful enough to run. If you somehow had a recording program running from the XMB the PS3 needs to run both the Recorder program & the game at the same time. With some games this *might* be possible but anything thats GPU intensive e.g. MW2, no.

I am thinking this wasn't built for recording games like COD or anything that uses alot of RAM but for everything else this would be brilliant.

It wouldnt hurt in trying.

Maybe a dev could get around to it sometime

The only way you could really do it is by lowering the ram the game uses so dropping the graphics and the fps or a custom ps3 hardware 'witch I'm pretty sure doesn't esist' & if that is the case your still better off getting a PVR.
P.S: Droping the graphics of something would take a lot of scripting, FPS isn't that hard but does make the game look horrible.

purhapse a plugin?

the psp had cheat divices that ran while in game called pluggins

Maybe we could have a application recording one that automaticly ran when ur started up game while game is playing, and somehow tide into it
