(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); why is sony so slow? Sony's incompetence to successfuly block the DNS Bypass amazes even the best of us......I'll throw a question out there....why is that? too busy suing geohot?

Thats because it is an 3.56 update DNS bypass, it is used by people who do not want to update. If you want to update just reset you internet connection on the ps3 and do not use a DNS and then when you go to sign in, the 3.56 update will be show up.

Hope this helped.

I'm still baffled how long Sony let the DNS Bypass go untouched letting users bypass 3.56 OFW... they are so incompetent...

I think this is a temporary fix for all 3.55 and below OFW and CFW users, this maybe or will be patched soon or near future. But many Devs are working on a more stabl/permanent solution such as CFW spoofing and NEW CFW's e.g. 3.56 CFW

this is because arron (the owner of the dns trick)has set a BIND from .ps3.update.playstation.net and is hosting a ps3.updatelist.text file on his webserver so when the ps3 checks for an update the file he is hosting is telling the ps3 your fully up to date so it doesnt check and yes its a temporary thing it usually doesn't last no more than a few weeks at a time

sony does not have a choice because the update.txt file your using is not on there servers

No you are still on sonys servers but because the DNS is Acting like its ps3.update.playstation.net the ps3 cant tell so it looks for the
paths for the update\ps3\list\us directory structure

i have done this myself to run my own DNS what is really interesting though is the possibility of hosting CFW's if you changed a few entries in the update list you could actually update to a CFW over the internet just like with OFW but no need for it really because it can be done VIA USB but usefull if anyone made a CFW and was updating it sorta like the way multiman gets updated online

I don't know if you're into the PSP hacking scene, but the M33 custom firmwares add a custom update function, so you can update your hacked firmware directly from the console!
That may be possible on the PS3 too. Smile
