I transfered 2 movies that are .AVI format, to this directory dev_hdd0/videos and when i went onto the PS3 i cant see the movies under Video on the XMB.??

Can anyone help?

neither do i but if you want to found out maybe you could.

1. pass video via USB
2.-check it via xmb
3.-search it via ftp
4.- and now you will know the reason and where to store them

Maybe you shouldn't go to dev_hdd0? But you can download movies from the internet straight to your Playstation 3! You have to go to a website called You must login or register to view this content.

dude just put the movie from ur computer on a usb stick, then put the usb stick in your ps3, go to video, press triangle on the usb stick and press on show everything and just copy the video to ur ps3's hdd, way easier

Thanks for the replies, and i know it would be easier to do it via usb, but i was thinking of doing multiple transfers via ftp, plus my bluray movies wont fit on my usb, there around 12gb each. I might copy a small trailer to the hdd via usb and find it via ftp and then see where i need to copy them etc.

Ps3s won't read avi anyways, you need to covert the movie...if you want I can convert a couple for you I have nothing to do today
