i agree an emulator would be much better as i have a few imports that i backed up and what do you know they came in handy because i dont know WTF happen to my original copies /facepalm so yea insted of backwards compadiblity i would much rather have an emulator

See? This is is what I ask for....a team that takes a project like this seriously...if only there was a team that did the same for a ps1 emulator then we wouldnt have so much BS. lol...Anyway this is amazing news...hope to see many updates from them. I will keep my eye on them in the upcoming weeks and months.
