I posted this before I was aware this was patched!

(If this is been posted before, sorry, but I thought people should know now, as some people still don't know this method is here.)
Some people have reported that the DNS trick using the DNS server (67.202.81.137) doesn't work for them.
If this is your case, there is another way to get online on firmware 3.55, by using the Logan's 5 Proxy Tool. You must login or register to view this content.
1. Open the Logan5's Proxy Tool.
You must login or register to view this content.
2. Click "Start Proxy"

4. On your PS3 under Settings go to Network Settings then Internet Connection Settings.
(Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings)
5. Select "Custom"
6. Go through all of the settings with the defualt selected BUT STOP AT "Proxy Server"
7. Select "Use"
8. Then, under the setting "Address", type your computer's IP, the one you noted down earlier.

9. Then continue on with selecting the default settings.
10. Test the connection to make sure it works.
11. Now try to sign in, and you won't be prompted to update.
NOTE:
Whenever you want to sign in using this method, the Logan5's Proxy Tool must be running on your computer and must be updated with your Computer's IP Address.
If you receive errors while signing in, stop the proxy then start it again.

Hope this helps, all this does is trick the PSN into thinking your running the latest firmware update
Say thanks if this helped you
