BYPASS
As we know, the bypass has been "PATCHED" as of yesterday. (2/8/11) Sony actually patches NOTHING at all. How did they manage to patch it without a firmware update? Well, the root kit on 3.56 might be an option, but it was "PATCHED" on lower firmwares also. How do they really do it? All the do is shutdown the servers allocated for that specific firmware. Their can be a way to bypass still, if we were to able to change our servers, (This may be possible as in FTP you can find in some files linking to PS3 servers, and you MAY be able to change to a different server, such as the current servers, etc.) If you have another POSSIBLE bypass, please post it below and I would be happy to add it. DO NOT post about fixing DNS/proxy as those will NEVER work again.

Custom Firmware
NO ONE can make a CFW if Geohot said he is/was making, that IS a lie. How so? We may have signing/encrypting keys for the firmware, but we do NOT have the private keys. The private keys allows us to install the firmware, the other keys that were released only allow us to encrypt/decrypt/sign the files. It took us 4 years to get were we are now, what makes you think we found the keys in less then a month? I believe it will be a lot easier to find the keys now, since we know what were after, but for now, CFW is impossible unless a new exploit was released.

Updating
Yes, I have created a CFW for 3.56, but of course, it will NOT work unless we have the correct private keys. It WILL work on 3.55 and allow spoofing. Spoofing is different then bypassing, how did I create the spoof? I created a custom firmware, and added a file. It's just like 3.55 CFW, except it's on 3.56, and you can sign in with it, but it will NOT install on 3.56, so it's more of a 3.56spoof-CFW type of thing. I'm sure we will find the keys, in fact i'm 99.99% sure we will, but for now, not for awhile.

3.56
3.56 adds a security patch and of course, the ROOT KIT. We didn't know Sony could do this, but they managed to change their private keys without the need of a hardware update. The Root Kit allows Sony to patch and basically keep an eye on everyone, if you read 3.56's EULA you will find more information about this. If you come across videos on youtube about 3.56 CFW, it is FAKE.

Bricking
Brick was the name given as your PS3 is now basically just a brick.. It does nothing. This is not really true, in most cases. Brick's can be fixed if you booted up with lv2. In other cases, it can't be fixed if your PS3 shuts off to fast, or freezes on the point of start up.

Geohot
Geohot will be back on the hacking scene. He only has a temporary restraining order, I'm not sure for how long, but he will be back to my knowledge. I have no idea what happened with fail0verflow, could someone explain to me what happened with them? Thanks.

Did you not install it right.. seemed to work.. I'm now running homebrew on 3.56, because of this thread! What an amazing Ps3 hack.. perfect section to put this in! My buddy installed this and bypassed the bypass patch.. utterly amazing! -Rep for this!

I'm wondering if it is still possible to sign pkgs for the 3.56? I know it isn't possible to use CFW's at the moment on the 3.56, but maybe it is possible to sign pkgs for 3.56, and bypass it.

I was thinking about this: 'back in the days', when I was hosting MW2 lobby's, you needed two ps3's.
One PS3 with the 3.41 firmware, jailbreaked with a dongle.. So you were able to install blackb0x and file managers..
The other PS3 had the 3.50 firmware and PSN access..

With the 3.41 you had to overwrite the patch_mp.ff and after that you needed to 'data transfer' it to your 3.50 firmware.
Then you could host the MW2 lobbys

After the data transfer you still saw the blackb0x and file managers on your 3.50, but you couldn't open it because it was not signed for the 3.50.

But maybe now, with the released keys, it is possible to sign the pkgs for 3.56? If so, you could put the 3.56 signed pkg's on your 3.55 CFW. Then do the data transfer to your 3.56 system and maybe the pkg's will work again?

Possible, but we do not have the keys to sign them yet. 3.56 changed them (and I think they can again whenever they so choose). But data transfering an FTP Server or a File Manager will not boot up to my knowledge.
