No that's really just a myth at this point. Although it would be safest to go from CFW3.55 to OFW3.55 and then OFW3.56 IMO.

make sur you use sony original pup file and any other signs of cfw the just upgrade to 3.56.

I updated from 3.55 cfw .. To 3.56 ofw , & nothin happened to me .. People who get scared shouldn't of done it in the first place..

No you can't get banned. But if you update directly from the custom firmware you will lose the ability to update via storage media. That mean you can't use another custom firmware. So it is safer to go back to the original 3.55 and then updating to 3.56. By doing so you will not lose that option.

Yes, you do. Check if you lost it, because i remember reading your post saying that you updated directly. If you did you can't use another custom firmware, if it comes out, that is.

So, what reason was there for those who did get banned? I assume it was because they ALL hacked on Black Ops? I haven't done that, so I'm hoping I'm in the clear.

If you didn't hack it you're good to go. So you can play online.
