I am going to upgrade my internal HDD on my PS3 slim and am currently on Kmeaw 3.55.

I just wanted to ask anyone who has done this if they went back to OFW 3.55 first or if this is really needed?

Hoping I can just:

do a back up to an external from XMB,
put in the new HDD,
Install Kmeaw 3.55 when promted during formatting/installation (as I understand slims have to do this step),
Restore from the backup,
Reinstall homebrew

If I can avoid the whole unjailbreaking then rejailbreaking steps it would be preferred.

Also, is their certain data that cannot be backed up from the XMB? From my understanding some save games will not work, is there anything else like PSN games? I cant go online and redownload them for obvious reasons.

I had a search for this on the forums using the search function but could not find anything.

Recently i did do a HDD swap and to tell you the truth i did not trust swapping them out and rewriting with CFW so i simply went back onto OFW and did the swap that way, And when i was done i put CFW back on. Your old HDD will still be functional on the PS3 though if you didn't know, The PS3 will recognise it was once used as it's HDD.
