Let's say I update to OFW 3.55 via recovery menu.

Chance of bricking or getting something damaged?

not possible with recovery menu sorry mate, there is no possibility yet for downgrade from 3.56 atleast not public.

if u try it u get an error i think
cause in recovery mode it says u have to install FW 3.56 or higher..
