Post: [Tutorial] How to Create / Use a Lagswitch
02-17-2011, 02:06 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys, so, I'm showing you all how I made my lagswitch / what's my setup for it. Hopefully you'll manage to do it yourself, if not, just PM me and I'll try to help you ASAP!

You'll need 5 things:
A sharp blade cutter(A knife will do the trick), a wire cutter(to strip the cables), a screwdriver(to unscrew the screws at the lightswitch), a light switch(to control your "lags" and "unlags") , a ethernet cable(obvious -.-)
Now Starting to make the Lagswitch:
1st thing to do - Strip the ethernet cable(the outside of the cable, without cutting the ones inside) then, cut the orange or the green one in half(some say orange for teleporting and green for freezing. for me orange worked for both lags) then plug one end directly into the modem / router and the other end to the ps3.
-----------------STOP HERE---------------------
WATCH THE VIDEO I MADE
Then go to your ps3 internet settings, and choose Setup:
-Choose to manually set it up.
-Select the option to use 10-Tbase-full.
-Then set your mtu to 1500.
OK now this is where it tricks people.
Sometimes when u flip outside of a MGO match it says "Ethernet cable unplugged", the trick is when you are in a game it won't do that
but it will freeze everyone in the game allowing you to shoot them no matter where they run or hide. If you see them and flip your lagswitch and they will freeze. You got 4-5 secs to kill him before you get the CNS(Conection Non Stable) Message.
If you see them they're basically dead.
the downfall is you will get CNS error after 4-5 seconds of leaving it on, but you can work with it.
Sometimes it takes a few restarts of your modem and ps3 to get the lag to work so I suggest getting a buddy
and testing it out in a private match.
NOTE: The guy you shoot will not die until you unflip / "unlag". And your name most likely will not show on the killfeed you only know if you killed him if the +3 killcount shows up in the lower right above your weapons menu.
Also you wont die until you unflip. Hence the "OMFG WTF HES DEAD AND HES STILL GOALING!" They just leave the Ls on for 4-5 secs while goaling so they wont die. DO NOT LEAVE IT ON FOR MORE THAN 5-6 SECS OR YOU WILL DISCONECT.
Have Fun Lagswitching

try to unplug the ethernet cable and re-plugging it, also re-setting your network settings, if neither work, try connecting each cord end to the other side, like, the side u hv conected to ur ps3 conect it to router, and the router u had conected to it, attach it to the ps3. also what's ur set-up? mine's PS3--Lagswitch--Router

what... no way
i used to have my switch after the router and i would have about 5 secs before getting the ethernet cord disconnected msg, i have moved the switch before the router and now when i turn it on it still wworks i guess. I have lagged out friends in lobby testing before and have eventually crashed myself but dont recieve the cord disconnected msg. I get the lobby closed or just says i've signed out of psn and then i have to resign in. Sometimes during resign i get dns errors out the ass but eventually after unplugging router and modem, modem first then router it reconfigs itself i suppose and it works. settings in ps3 our 100 t full. Some testing with friends shows connection error and freezes them till i unflip, but sometimes it just basically lags them to red bar and kinda slows them down and i can still shoot and kill them before i even flip it back on. Im not sure whats up with it. maybe the switch but lol thanks for your time and troubles. I appreciate anyone giving me advice or tips to adjust it.

I have mine setup where its Modem, Router, 5 port hub and my lag switch goes from hub into PS3. I was having an issue where if I flipped lag on in game would instantly sign me out. I found that upon booting up PS3 if I flipped switch on and off repeatedly before signing in and loading a game the message about the ethernet cable would go away then I would get the freeze in game when the switch was on. My my switch I can lag them for about 6 to 7 seconds before hast migration and I get kicked. I get total enemy freeze in game and side note I have a 50 foot cable which helps to weaken my signal and never changed any settings on the PS3. I also built my switch into my controller which is way better. Hope this helps and good luck.
