since there is a new banhammer coming, i'll tell you guys what i am thinking about it.

In the newest OFW from Sony CE, 3.56, they implemented a new feature called the RootKit. So what this basically is: First thing i want to say about it that it is on YOUR PS3, not on Sony servers or shit. It allows Sony to check simply everything on your PS3, even on your external hard drives, if they are connected to your PS3. This feature makes it really easy for Sony to check for non - Sony code, and to actually ban your PS3. So well, if do something illegal on your PS3, you are about to get banned. This RootKit can be accessed if your PS3 has internet access.

But remember what i just said: This RootKit was brought to us by Sony, in the 3.56 OFW. So if yo are on 3.55 your PS3 does not have this RootKit on.
So first of, this means that your PS3 is not gonna respond to the execution code of the PSN servers, so they cant check your PS3 for unsigned code or whatever. Which means that the RootKit is basically useless for Sony if you are on 3.55.
But there also is some kind of a "Activity Log" which probably was there since 2.92 or what. But this thing can basically be faked really easy, and can only be accessed through the PSN service.

So there is only ONE thing tat can get you banned: NOT responding to the execution codes of the RootKit! So if somebody manages to fake this response there is nothing that can get us banned. Except if you log onto PSN on 3.55 (;

Looks like i got some wrong information about Sony's RootKit, i will take bake anything i just wrote. Sorry for writing something wrong.

Why would you even risk your Playstation if you just can update to 3.56 and be safe?
We screwed it up it's over, deal with it.
Or do you want to have to unplug your network stick forever or be afraid that your PSN might be banned?

They've probably had rootkit since the beginning. If they do, we're all screwed =D

Pshh Sony can't take away otherOS but guess what, they did. Don't say something that's likely to happen because I have a good feeling they will ban people who are still on 3.55.

Has anyone tried logging in to psn lately? I just tried and I wasn't banned but they released a new TOS or whatever the hell it says its version 8 2/16/2011 and if you don't accept it you can't log on. I didn't except it cause it probably has some hidden shit hid in it so I'm offline for good unless I update

If you don't play online can't play online but you're not banned... what the hell is the point of being banned?

I see people say "Just don't play on PSN if you don't want to be banned"

Well why the hell don't I play on PSN for as long as I can, then when I'm banned I wont worry about it anyway?
