Do I need to restore my hole system and then update or just get rid of FTP and go to OFW then update?
And If I do restore, and I make a Backup with my patches on first, will the backup work on 3.56 after the restore?
Also When I want to Backup on my Usb with plenty of room left I get this error;
The back up operation could not be completed.

Yes I did disable Internet
Im using a FAT32.
Had the same error.
Backups probably wont work, im not certain. If you want to be on the safe side i suggest you boot intro recover menu and select Restore ps3 system(This formats the drive so beware!).
Recover menu - Update to ofw 3.55 - Recovery menu - Restore ps3 system - Boot it up and update via XMB to 3.56 and your safe.

Yes I agree I'm starting to get bored offline to. When you update from the CFW I would switch to 3.55 OFW first. then from there update to 3.65 OFW. Also delete all your package files when you update like FTP cuz then they'll most likely ban you cuz they can see it and you can't even use it:O :OI don't know about the error I haven't tried it.
No, restoring ps3 system is what only worked for me to get the ps3 clear of any homebrew.
As for the error go into recovery mode and select "Restore File System". This should not remove any patches/savegames etc. And it should make backup manager working again. Report back if it worked for other to read please.
