Its a SATA harddisk which runs on both 5400RPM and 7200RPM. The drive itself is 2,5". Same as a laptop and same as the ones that are packed in small external harddrives. It has to be a Fat32 filesystem, which you can do on your computer using "EASUES partition master" which is freeware and can handle 4gb+ filesystems. Windows cant do that. Im not sure but maybe you can format it by the ps3 itself.
