Post: Backup manager

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have a ps3 with a broken blu ray drive. I think I heard somewhere that there was a way to get backups onto a ps3 without inserting the disk. If this exists, can someone link me to a download?
Don't flame me.

Thanks, keithfin

You could use an FTP server. Just search on google "black box 1.2" and install that to the ps3. Then search for winscp, download and install that in the port make sure it's 21, user name and pass is blank. Then go into your ps3 from the winscp grower and go to games, (backup maneger name) gamez and drag and drop the game folder you want to download. To get games go to ps3iso and look around there.
Press thank I I helped youOutie

I can't install programs on a computer. All the ones I have access to require passwords by an admin. (My dad won't allow it if I ask.)

You can always go old school:

Windows has a built in ftp client (NO GUI tho).
Goto START/RUN and type "cmd.exe" (w/o quotes)

A black window opens with a command prompt.

Now you have to navigate to where your ps3 backup is stored on your computer. since I have no clue where you store it I will just pretend you have it in the following location:
c:\my-legal-ps3backups

*NOTE* I recommend to you since your new to this that you only have 1 game in that directory because this method will copy EVERYTHING inside directory. meaning if you have 10 games backed up they will ALL be transferred over and that will take forever and if you loose connection or something there is NO RESUME function. *NOTE*

Type the following at the command prompt:

cd c:\my-legal-ps3backups <---again replace with your location

Goto your ps3 and start Multiman (if ya don't have that installed, google it and install it) Look in the bottom of Multiman and you will see your ps3's ip address. something like 192.168.0.10 or similar.
now your ready to ftp to ps3...

Type the following at the command prompt:

ftp 192.168.0.10 (again this is just an example, replace with your ps3's ip)

when it askes for login name use: anonymous
password: [email protected] <---- doesnt really matter what you use for this.

Now that your logged in you wanna set up a few things....
Type the following at the command prompt:

bin <---- sets for BINary download
prompt <------ turns OFF interactive prompt
hash <------ adds "#" mark printing on (1024 bytes/hash mark)

*Note* I use the hash command as a visual because it will print `#' marks across the screen to show its downloading else all you will see when downloading is a blinking box and you'll think nothing is happening! *NOTE*

At this point you need to navigate to where to store the game on your ps3...

Type the following at the command prompt:

cd /dev_hdd0/GAMES
mput *

Now you should see your screen filling up with "#"'s.
Sit back and wait till it finishes (will take awhile depending on size of game and transfer speed).
Once it's done just type "quit" and then "exit" to close command prompt. Restart Multiman and your game will be listed and ready to play!!

cheers
