Since NTFS support was added into multiman here is a step by step guide to getting your vendor ID and device ID.

First right click on "Computer" or "My Computer" depending on what version of windows you are using. Then select properties.

Second open the device manager this will also be different if you are not on windows 7. I believe the device manager is a button in windows XP.

Third expand the "Disk Drives" tree and right click on the USB hard drive you want to use with your PS3. Then select properties.

Fourth step is to click on the details tab.

Finally you will need to find "Parent" in the drop down selection and copy the circled numbers into the "USB.CFG".

After this is done you need to copy the "USB.CFG" into "/dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR" on your PS3.

The last bit after 0x0000:x0000:X Where X is the volume number so if you plug in your hard drive and it has 2 partitions like G: and F: the this needs to be 2 or however many partitions it has.

Start up multiman get to the file browser hit Start + /\ plug in your UBS hard drive wait a bit then hit continue.

Hmm, good job. Now i would love to get EXT4 support. I really don't want to repartition my 1 TB drive.

It shouldn't be that hard I don't think to to ext since its open source...

FYI, EXT4 is a linux filesystem.

Just to let you know this doesnt allow you to play games from a NTFS drive, it just allows you to copy games over to your internal HDD

So there's no way of playing directly from NTFS?
GAAAH. So it's either, buy a new HDD, format to fat32 and have to split the files into 4gb sections to play, use NTFS and not play them, or burn like 2 games to the remaining 20gb of my 60gb internal. This sucks Sad Awesome
Will NTFS playing support ever be added or is it worth just formatting to fat32?

Not sure if it will be added, i don't even know if it's supported by the ps3, i would format to fat32 then u can play the majority of games off your harddrive, but there will be the odd few games with a "BIG" file which you will have to play off your internal hard drive.

Hi, quick question. If I buy this... will I be able to use it to back up games and play them from external. (after formatting to fat32)

Just asking because it's stated as a SATA drive & I wasn't sure if it had to be SATA or IDE. So if I just format to FAT32, it will work?

Thanks Smile
