(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Just letting everyone know, I was messing with charles and found something I worry about. When ever you start a game, the ps3 firmware requests a XML file from a0.np.ac.playstation.net. It will do it even for homebrew. This XML would normally return a result set of information related to game updates.

Even if the file doesn't exist, it would get logged in the apache server access log. The bad thing about this is sony could filter though this and gather IP with game ID's they flag as homebrew and potentially trace it back to you and ban you.

I know that it is only your IP address, but its still a risk.

Also do know that some requests besides logging in have header information that hints that your not on 3.56..

I hope this all is nothing, I just wanted everyone aware of this information I have found.

Enjoy..

Unfortunately if you do that it connects to the IPs of that server instead, i believe Mathieulh or KaKaRoTo said it a while back

that makes no sense. When connecting to a website it always uses the IP in the end. That is what DNS is for. It keeps records of host to ip.

I know, but if the PS3 can't connect to the site's URL, it simply uses the site's IP as a URL istead, so you'd need to block the IP's for the site as well

Just pointing that out..

URL = 8.8.8.8 or google.com

IP = 8.8.8.8

Hostname = google.com

So you basically said that if it can't resolve the hostname or connect to the ip, it uses the ip. Not much sense LOL
