Couldn't the same thing happen with a PS3 game?
The PS3 game connects to a server hosted on your PC, which is accomlished by editing the server requests of an online game (Game asks for server IP, give it your PC's IP), then the game accesses your psuedo game server and runs the backup.
Either this is going to be totally awesome, or has this been tried? Might just work and Sony can't do sh** because their system has not been modified, only a few bytes in a game iso, so no worries there
