Post: [Question] Please, How do you mod PS3 OFW?
03-22-2011, 08:05 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok guys, I really need your help on this because nobody seems like they want to answer this question. Could someone please tell me how to mod PS3 Official Firmware? **WITHOUT USING PS3MFW*** I've already begun unpacking one of them. So far, I used Puppy to unpack it. Afterwards, I extracted "update_files.tar" in to a folder called "Update Files". From there I have multiple .PKG files, .tar.aa.2011_03_04_024232 extensions on some files, and two .img Disk Image files. Can someone please help me with this, and tell me what to do after this? If you can help, e-mail me at [email protected] or PM me. I've begun emailing Geohot, Graf_Chokolo, and KaKaRoTo because nobody is helping me out, but they probably will not answer. PLEASE help me out guys. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you guys soo much.

Well it first really depends on what your modding it and what your trying to add to it. First start with somthing easy, Unpack a 3.55 OFW and add modified NAS plugin to skip the signiture check for the .pkg files Smile. Uhm if your modding the XML. they come in .xml exxtensions.

Try google man, it all really depends what your trying to mod Smile

Thanks. Happy I've tried googling it before and got noootthhiinnngggg. lol. I'm simply planning to mod it so I can install package files, and i'm also tryn to look for the keys (I know, there's a formula fail0verflow released) and i'm looking for what file it is stored in. Basically, I just want to know how to open every file in it and look at the whole update to figure out what is where because I want to start modding the Offical Firmwares as they are released so I need to be able to know how to work on finding the keys (which I know is not an easy task at all). A tutorial would be great Upside Down Happy and I would strongly appreciate it

Okay no point in doing it for 3.56+ Because SONY fixed the ECDSA encypttion. You can still find public keys but you won't find Private keys. (Private keys sign, Public keys check private keys Authentication) But that formula works for 3.55- with public and private. Also there is a .PKG enabler released by someone on psgroove go try and finding that as it may help. It enables and disables the .pkg file folders Smile
