It's encrypted so you can't (if you're talking about BO)

If not get FFVIEWER and use that for MW2, cod4, Cod5.

That garbled stuff your talking about is called "encryption". The only way to edit the patch_mp is to convert it with a patch converter to an xbox Patch first.

Than simply download and run .ff Viewer and drag and drop your patch (xbox patch) in and edit. Once your satisfied convert it back to PS3 and voila your done.

Just don't EVER edit credit's out of the patch.

I know he is talking about MW2 , you posted the manual way to decompress and recompress. This kid dragged a non decompressed patch into notepad so it was fully encryted. :p

Trust me about 8 months ago I used to edit by manually decompressing and recompressing and it takes long. The ff viiewer way is simple. 1. you convert, drag and drop,edit,reconvert, and done

Yeah i know, i do not use it anymore but i always thinked the old methods are always the best.

Man just offzip with the tools in my tut offzip.exe and packzip.exe. Also i recommend you to use bucn converter and ffviewer.

you can either use ff viewer(as many ppl have stated) or you can indeed use the notepad++ and this awesome .gsc dumper buc-Shotz made for ps3 patches. easily shows the .gsc files form a patch for you to edit them.

ill give link in a min im also giving some patch editing tools other then the gsc dumper that can be useful to you one minute.
