A few days ago, you were informed of the success that Graf-chokolo had with installing Gentoo Linux on the VFLASH region of the PS3′s internal hard drive. And he mentioned that petitboot would be coming. Well, it’s here as promised, as well as updated tools to assist in dual booting Gentoo Linux and GameOS from the VFLASH region. Please note that this is designed for advanced users and/or developers–in other words, very technical.

Check out after the break–at the very bottom–for complete instructions on how to compile petitboot. Also, a hypervisor custom firmware with the capability to dual-boot GameOS and petitboot (for Linux) is coming.

Example of creating a hard drive partition:

ps3stor_region / create dev/ps3stormgr 0×1000 0×1070000002000001 0×8 3

The “PS3 hvcall tools” mentioned in the list above is used for handling kernel panics–restarts the console after a kernel panic.

Usage for PS3 hvcall:

ps3hvc_hvcall [OPTIONS] DEVICE COMMAND [ARGS]

Options for PS3 hvcall:

-H, – help: Show this message and exit
-V, – verbose: Increase verbosity
-V, – version: Show version information and exit

i not going to say am to sure m8 but am not a dev so it would be me saying untrue stuff if i say yes but you never no but i think t for people who want linux back m8 and he making it so you can use the hole ps3 m9 just have to wait and see what happens

Ye everybody want cfw this days. They see somthing whit the name of a respected dev. and they think its a cfw. i bet they dont even now whats dual boot or other OS.
but after all whe are all here to learn or inprove our skills

All I hear is people asking will this enable a new CFW, if anything this is way better than CFW and if a CFW is released in the near future then good for the people who want it but damn Graf the MAIN man. Good work Graf. :y:

can some one give me a link to the best version of Linux and can you tell me how to install it because i really need help

OMG yay! Hopefully a more "user freindly" version will be released, so that we can dual boot from GameOS (Which means that we can run Linux and GameOS, for all the noobs)
