Here is a little History Lesson
The debug for ps3 has been around for a very long time. At the beginning it was only a test ps3/dev ps3. Then people started to mod it and sell debug ps3's. The Official debug PS3'S go for $10,000 at a retail price(ironically you cant buy it at a retail store of course)

Obviously we are not buying debug PS3'S at absurd prices. This is because rebug has made it possible to have debug cfw on a retail console. Debug cfw on retail consoles have been around since 2.36 fw(possibly earlier) up to 3.41 and 3.55. The reason you guys are now hearing about this is because when 3.41 came it was mainly about jailbreak then later on rebug was released. of course by this time most people have already updated. Then it was a while till the 3.55 rebug was released. Now here you are on this thread seeking info on the debug cfw

Playing Online
There are 2 Dev PSN'S that you can access on "non flaqqed ps3's"
prod-qa and sp-int
sp-int is the one that you want to use for GAMING because it has the most people. i was surprised to see people playing Modern Combat Domination(which i downloaded for free)
Now for the tutorial part
First head to settings in the xmb
then go all the way to the bottom to debug settings
after you should see np environment
Type in "sp-int"
Reboot your system
Now you can go play some games online.
Oh yeah forgot to say, you can go to quick sign up or normal sign up for psn, piece of cake :derp:

(psn from sp-int and normal psn wont work)
Go to psn store
sadly you can only buy what is advertised, like the socom 4 beta.
it is all free, you just click buy and it magically downloads.
you can also add funds in account management so its pretty easy.
As you have probably have realized you can only get about 10 games so here is another way to get free games(easy)

First go here

and dl any game ex: borderlands
when done put the file (pkg file) onto your ps3
install it, walla its there to play

-make a generated fake id on REBUG CFW to do that
-make new user
-choose quick sign up
-log in & open Account Management
-Choose Transaction Management
-Add Funds Choose Credit Card
add what ever you want
- after PSN+ game trail expired or the game needs licence activation
press X to proceed to PSN STORE & you'll find the full Game activation there, and its free. so yeah!

Homefront Online

Ok i figured out how to get homefront working on rebug 3.55.1 firmware online...and the neat thing is that you are playing with OFW firmware users ....ok this is what you will need

1. Multiman(for FTP or Other Filemanager)
2. Homefront Backed Up on HDD or External

Navigate to the folder where homefront is and replace the PARAM.SFO with this one...,PUT SFO IN THE ORIGINAL FOLDER WHERE HOMEFRONT IS SAVED(the folder with PS3_GAME, PS3_UPDATE)

If this doesn't work for you than try deleting your game data and then do this. Add K-Ro on sp-int network if you have any questions.

Note: This is if your game backup is working already...if you need help getting your Homefront backup to work than refer to this thread.

Anyways seeing as all these threads are kind of confusing I decided to make an easy to follow tut. These things are not that hard once you figure them out so just stick with me and I'll guide the way.

Requirements
-PS3 3.55/lower
-Rebug 3.55.1
-.PKG Game

1. Download the Rebug software. (Due to many complaints I ask you got to the Rebug website instead of using the hotlinks. They really need the views to keep their website up. Here is the site. Just look around on the front page.)

3. Move Rebug to a flash drive under PS3→UPDATE→PS3UPDAT.PUP.



4. You can update over any CFW like geohot or Kmeaw.

5. Go to Settings→System Update→Update via Storage Media.





6. Once it's installed you will notice a variety of changes but wait your not ready yet.

7. Go to Game→★Package Manager→★Install Package Files→PS3™ Hard Disk.

8. There should be two files; BDEMU and Rebug_Selector_1.2.

9. Run ★RebugSelector.

10. Do L1+ and R1+. Then do R2+ for menu 1.

10½. If you want hit SELECT for a PKG folder on your internal HDD.

11. Reboot your system and then make a new user .

12. After creating a new go to Setting on the XMB. Look for ★ebug Settings.

13. In ★ebug Settings find NP Environment. By default it will say Sp-Int. Change it to Prod-Qa.

14. You are now connected to dev PSN. Go to Playstation Network and do Quick Sign Up. Not Sign Up. Quick Sign Up.

15. Leave the Country, DOB, ETC as they are just hit continue.

16. Sign In and then go to Account Management→Transaction Management→Add Funds. Use the Credit Card option. Don't go overboard and add like $1,000,000. Only add the amount you need.

17. This is where your .PKG game comes in. If you don't have one look here. Choose a Demo/Full game.

18. Install the unactivated file through Install Package File.

19. Launch it and before it starts it will say you need PSN activation. Accept and it will redirect you to PSN store. Buy whatever game you used and the license will be renewed.

20. The game you just activated you will be able to play.

21. For a different way to get some games go to the PSN Store. You will get an error (80023107). That's normal just exit out and continue.

22. Keep hitting the ads on the home area until you get a game. It will redirect you to somewhere else and you might be able to get the game. It doesn't get you a game every time.

You're done. You have succesfully managed to run Rebug firmware.

NOTE: DLC such as Map Packs don't work because they don't ask for activation. If a new method to get DLC comes up please quote or PM and I will ad it in.

Do Backups work on the rebug cfw??? Since I use multiman.. and how do you go back to kmweas cfw if you didn't like the rebug...

rebug is not really a "real name" per say, its like calling a sword a katana , same thing right(if thats how you spell it).At leas thats what i think is true.Basically its the name of the people who made it which is "rebug".At least thats what i think..... Yeah basically the debug the snail without its shell if you know what i mean.

once you are on rebug cfw with the np environment "prod-qa" you can use the normal sign up or quick.
