Maybe my PS3 has been bricked. Keeps freezing on load up when the swirly lines come across. Going to attempt to put it in service mode with the usb. Will report back!

So If i were to do a format my ps3, and unplugg it at 5% it would enter service mode? Can you even access recovery mode on 3.60 anymore?

Better is to update to ofw 3.60 and when its installing at system install unplug it at 10% to this 10 times and you will be bricked Smile

*NOTE* System Install = When the PS3 Restarts and shows not the XMB but only the Install Progress!

Dont know if I have done it right but after 2 hours of pulling power cords I had enough, I ended up letting get to about 10% pulling the cable then taking the drive out. Formatted to NTFS and stuck back in my ps3 just on a whim.

Result: When you turn on nothing comes on screen and after a little while the PS3 puts itself back into standby (little red light). I don't know if this is now "bricked" but I tried the downgrade file plus OFW 3.41 on my USB, shoved in right most port, turned on and waited. No HDD activity, just black screen and then turned itself off. Took out USB, pressed power. Still black screen and turned itself off. Thought maybe is actually in service mode, so put single file2 on USB and ran. Still same result. Took out USB and tried again, still nothing.

Recovery Menu does work... but asks for 3.60 or higher :'(

EPIC FAILURE on my part, i dusted off my old HTC Tatto (with psfservicemod) connected it up and tried to enter service mode, this didn't work all it did was freeze the PS3 for a little while then it turned itself off. To check to see if it had worked once again I tried the lv2diag.self file 1 and that modded 3.41 (spoofed as 3.56) and waited to see what happened, once again blank screen and in a few minutes it turned itself off. Took out USB, tried lv2diag.self file 2, turned on, waited, ps3 turned off and I restarted it. Still blank screen and then self-standby. Tried recovery mode, works but once again asking for 3.60 or higher.

I think my problem is I have a 256MB NAND, the PS3 is technically bricked due to the PS3 seeing an unknown file system on my HDD (NTFS). But the NAND is fine, it still has 3.60OFW or some part of it stored on it. I guess I would need a NAND flash from a 3.55 PS3 (which I aint got) and a NAND Flasher (also what I aint got) so I could re-flash my NAND to fool it into thinking the last firmware I had on it was 3.55.

It may work for 3.56, idk. Anyone else can try it how I did it and see how you get on. Also don't know if it will make a difference but I have a phat CECHG03 model...
