The Blu-Ray drive will read everything but Blu-Rays.

It will on occassion read Blu-Rays but very rarely.

What are the odds of me cleaning the lense and it reading them.

It will read everything else so I figure it wasn't a dirty lense.

I basically don't wanna pay to have my ps3 fixed (new blu-ray drive or sending it to Sony for 106$)

Has anyone else had that exact problems fixed by cleaning ps3 and lense?

I already tried the recovery menu option.

From the 40GB's onwards, the Blu-Ray drives were installed with dual lasers (one for BR and one for DVD) your best bet is to open it up and clean the lense with cleaning alcohol and a cotton bud, that should sort it.

What are the odds of that working.

I can either wait and try and get a friend reciept or open it and cleaning it

If I open it and cleaning the lense doesn't work, I basically don't have a ps3 anymore.

When I put a game in the it makes the eject shuffling noise type thing.

Your friends receipt would not work anyway. The receipts have the PS3 serial number on them so you cannot do this unless you swap your PS3 barcode with your friends. As everyone else has said. Just clean it.
