Hmm I'm on 3.55 still doesn't matter to me but the main reason would be to play new games that require 3.60 and cannot be modified to work on any lower firmware like Portal 2. Oh also because of PSN.

Just because you do not understand why does not mean you can just assume it for CL's. A big majority of the people that do back ups probably don't have the money to blow on games every month. Now i understand how you could see it as pointless, but i really had fun hosting zombie lobbies, but only in private matches with my friends and their friends, i had a great time! Now that its over... well, all my friends play black ops, i dont even really like black ops... Honestly i just miss Infinity ward, their games where fun, but, im getting of topic.
