everyone who blanked theirs out on their psp screenshots is... stupid. the people who do it on their ps3 screenshots (er pics i guess since there are no plugins for cfw yet) are probably just copying the people that did it on the psp screenshots. The whole "hide your mac address" option on psp cfw is wholly unnecessary. the mac address is burned into the network card at manufacture... if sony would track ANYTHING its your consoleID not your mac. And by that i mean even if some sony employee saw a screenshot with your mac in it they wouldnt be able to track it to your console.
not to mention, unless they're within your wireless range they're not going to know its you, AND THEN... Macs are NOT unique. there've been some cases where people actually had 2 cards with the exact same Mac Address before.
So there's no point in hiding your damn Mac from yourself, your friends, or anyone else for that matter.
So what if I'm annoymous, and release an awsome 3.61 CFW with all the features.
And I make a video, which shows my ORIGINAL mac address.
Sony get my mac, search it up on their systems.
Locate where that system was sold.
Get information from seller.
Get seller info.
Find where PS3 now is.
Located owner, (ME).
Sony finds me.
Sony + Me = Lawsuit
I know that it might be a little extreme.
But it's better to be safe than sorry.
