Post: A Little Something I Have Found, and a new Menu Option! :)
05-18-2011, 03:58 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have found a little bit of the QA Flag menu options for stuff.
This will also tell you how to get some of those menus.
two of the .rco files is provided below.

Today I was editing my .rco of my flash just changing text and stuff.
I went through a couple like
* category_setting_plugin.rco
* explore_psn_plugin.rco (I think)
* explore_debug_plugin.rco (rebug only)

Follow this tutorial to find & edit your own .rco files
You must login or register to view this content.

In explore_psn_plugin If you look down a bit you see *Install Package Files, so I was like wait thats not there. So then I remebered QA Flag. This proves that it is real, and we can find the code (for you non-believers)

In category_settings_plugin If you look at the bottom of the .xml file it says 2 options:
1. *Install Package Files
2. *Debug Settings

Just like before thats from QA Flag, so thats just more evidence for you non-believers.
So we can get debug settings on a retail (3.61) consol if we find the code/keys or whatever.

Now Im going to show you how to get a new menu option in settings. (rebug only)
also In category_settings_plugin there is a Edy name and description. So then I was like wait I remember something about that (also not there.) In debug settings there is Edy Debug. so I turned that on and nothing happened, so I started to wonder does this need QA Flag also? but I found out NO, because back in that .rco file I changed the name to "Edy Stuff", and the description to "testing" (can be any text). Then I turned Edy Debug back on, with the new .rco file installed on my flash. Then I went into Rebug settings, and changed all my stuff back to Retail, and out of debug/rebug. Then it will restart your PS3. It WILL beep 3 times super fast, and it is not bricked. But now when you go to Settings, right under System Update there will be a Edy Settings Icon. You can click it but it wont load for some reason. But in category_debug_plugin there is another option for Edy. Ill let you guys look at it, but maybe we can enable that extra menu options for Edy on our systems. Smile

Well this got me thinking to maybe we dont need QA Flagging, we might be able to enable these options by editing files in the flash. (be carefull)

I hope we get more people looking into this field, and discover new system options!

Here is the cagetory_settings_plugin.rco

I'm glad everything turned out okay. Most people wouldn't be smart enough to keep backups of their stuff, luckily you are. Keep pushing forward and be safe.

Like I said the other day man keep it up only way to learn but ill start experimenting with this also and report back almost 3am here again so time for me to go to sleep. But seriously like I said I got ps3's to spare so if you need someone to test something out you find ill do my best. But like your more familiar with the software stuff im more familiar with hardware but ill attempt anything its a learning process either way right.

I got another idea I wanna try with this also will probably need help though see my thought is that since there is info floating about about how to get a ps3 QA flagged if someone can attempt that we may not need to figure out the button combo with this find we may be able to edit the .rco's and enable the options directly without having to use the apparently "complicated button combo" to access the options once the console is QA flagged since you were able to access an option that was previously unavailable otherwise with a simple rco edit.

Unfortunately Im not sure a slim can be QA flagged or not as the only consoles ive seen it done too are phats... which I don't have any of those available to me at this minute. However since your good on the software side of things if you managed to get a console QA flagged you could probably try this. I will probably be trying myself here in a few weeks just thought I would post my 2bits and give you some ideas to work with while your exploring possibilities.

May be doing this sooner than later found a vid of a guy successfully QA flagging his slim gonna do a bit more research try some simple stuff report back later tomorrow then move forward also. GL to you mate and lets hope we don't brick more ps3s haha.

actually I have videos proving that QA Flagging is real, in the .rco files it has the * install package files in the same spot that the guy in the video had.

I updated with the .rco's

Awsome thanks for the .rco files. I will be messing around with them when I get off work. Since the .rco file is basically the design of the xmb do you think another file maybe necessary to actually make the options load and be used? I started to work on this a bit last evening with the info you already provided but like you said only managed to see the option couldn't actually use it... maybe its another file we will have to access to get the options actually available?
