Ive got a just as stupid question as me putting my spare PS3 in Service mode.
All I want to know is if I update my 3.56 service mode ps3 to FW3.61 will it still be in service mode also Ive heard that updating in service mode can potentially brick my console.. any advice other then selling would be great thanks..

plus rep and paypal $ if I get a solution on how to downgrade to 3.55 cfw

You cleared alot of doubts I had, I was abit worried about updating and bricking.. I dont really need to consoles on cfw. So updating to 3.61 isnt a prob just had to make sure it didnt stay in Service Mode...

Ill tell you what I have after upgrade, one big arse paper weight. If you cant trust someone 13k plus rep who the **** can you trust.. I was better of in services mode.. EVERYBODY ATTEMPTING TO DOWNGRADE, UPDATE OR SERVICE MODE IN 3.56 JUST DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you'll have an expensive dust collector.
I should have not bothered asking this stupid question................

Sorry mate didnt in my case all I have is RSOD.. It got half way through update.. basicly it loaded 3.61 but after restart when it installs it went straight to RSOD.. I must have been unlucky.. if there's a way out of RSOD other then trying to use the recovery mode please let me know... my console wont go into recovery mode. just gets stuck at 0% install then RSOD
