Dude, if you put the fan on at a higher speed it prevents the console from overheating, THEREFORE stops the PS3 getting YLOD...

bro it can do more than just burn up the fan it can over heat at the soldered points the same as the mother board does which is what your trying to prevent... if you wanna keep it cool. use COOLING FANS for both front and back and then buy a LAPTOP COOLING station and set your ps3 ontop of it... it wont ever have a chance to get hot.

Look I know what i'm talking about i've been buying more prowerful fans for my PS3's since my first PS3 got YLOD and as of yet, none of the upgraded faster fans have ****ed up my PS3.

well its all a matter of opinion. obviously its messed up since you've had YLOD and you said "FANS" plural meaning more than one... you do what you want i got my 100 posts lol. i have both front and back cooling fans one pushing (FRONT) one pulling (REAR). and i have a CYRO LX laptop cooling station that it sits on top of that has huge fans, they all have controls on all 3 coolers for fan speeds. my stuff is never hot i mean you get you a digital thermometer and stick it in the back of your ps3 and snap a pic of its temp... and ill do the same i bet mine is cooler and i didnt solder anything to adjust a fan speed. that fan speed at max is not supposed to run like that all the time. its not designed to neither.
