What stops it from working is the BD Emulator file that's used for backup games.

You could try burning it to the HDD and somehow getting it to work that way..? Or maybe Showtime(homebrew) has a way of getting it working..? :bro:

what about popping out the hdd then formating it

Might work, although I don't think it's one of the files that a format will erase/replace.
